Dear friends and volunteers,
We are happy to inform you about a youth exchange project that has been developed within Code-X International! Therefore we have the pleasure to announce you the opportunity of participating in it. The activities are going to be unfolded between 1-7 June 2011 and we are looking for 5 Dutch persons to participate.
Project Summary
Art has the unique ability to transcend cultures, creating a common language between people of different backgrounds. It has been used for centuries to express personal perspectives and collective consciousness. Photography, specifically, has been used to capture the cultural norms of more modern times; it has been vital in recording both the mundane and exciting moments of life.!
With this understanding, Code-X International has developed a Youth Exchange, which will use photography to teach youth about the different cultures around them; as well as giving them the opportunity to display their own culture.
Picture it: A Multi-cultural Experience will bring together 36 youth from 8 different countries (the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Italy, Romania, Czech Republic, the UK, Cyprus and Lithuania) to discover the cultures around them; explored through pictures and lively discussions. Code-X will cover the cost of the accommodations, meals, activities and 70% of travel cost. Participants will be responsible for the other 30%. FYI: Travel cost will only be reimbursed with receipts!

• Discussions over Art & Culture
• Creation of Cultural Photo-book; using pictures for each participant
• Pop-Up Photo Exhibition
• Canal Tour of Amsterdam
• Visit to Rijksmuseum and FOAM Photo Gallery
• Tour of the World Press Photos at the OudeKerk
• And exciting intercultural games!
Project Guidelines:
Please take note of the following conditions that apply to each participant in this Youth Exchange:
1. Each partcipant will need to take photos depicting their culture, and return the disposable cameras to Code-X International ( Cameras provided by Code-X).
2. Each partcipant must be active in the cultural exchange for the full six days (this includes staying with the group at the StayOk Zeeburg).
3. Every participant must respect others differences.
4. Each participant must partcipate in the evaluation of the project.
5.Pictures, which are used in this Youth Exchange, may be utilized in promotional efforts and in the final composition of the cultural photography book/website/etc.
